Santa and the Star Search

We hope to see you all at our evening performance of "Santa and the Star Search" this Tuesday in the Millard Hawk Auditorium at 6:30. Please have all students to their classrooms by 6:15 (kids can hang their coats in their lockers and leave boots at the classroom- less for you to carry around) and then you can return to the auditorium to get a good seat. Sit on the left side of the auditorium to see our kids best! They will be on the risers at the far left. (Jadalynn's parents should sit on the right side to see her best. Cheyanna's parents to the left and Brett's parents to the right for the best viewing!!) Thank you to everyone who sent in T-shirts. They are all decorated and ready for our shining stars!!

Please come back to the classroom after the performance to pick up your child! We will not dismiss students from the auditorium or the hallway. For everyone's safety, please meet us in the classroom!

Hope to see you all Tuesday night!!

Classroom Parties

Last year, I collected $2 from each child for each classroom party. This helped pay for decorations, food, drinks and paper products. We have 5 classroom parties throughout the year- Harvest (Halloween), Christmas, Valentine's, Easter and the End of the Year Ice Cream Party. This totals $10 for all the parties for the year. I would be happy to collect $2 each time from each student or you can send in $10 and you will be all set for the year. You have the option.

Thank you!

Rollin' Right Along!

Well here we are on Day 4 of the school year and we are all adjusting well. We started our ELA centers today with just a few centers. The students did computer, writing and reading centers. Soon, they will also do SmartBoard and grammar/spelling centers too.

The kids are getting used to the rules of the classroom. They often need reminders to work quietly but they are getting better at that!!

They are enjoying the SmartBoard and the activities we have done with it!

Please return any forms that were sent home on the first day of school. I need them to put together the Classroom Address Book and to know whose pictures can be included on the Classroom Blog on the internet.

See you on September 8!!

Welcome to First Grade!

We are going to have a great year together! We will learn how to read, write and do math. We will use computers; cooperative learning and we will learn sign language! We will learn all about great character and being a good friend! In order to do all this learning, we will need some supplies. Please send in the following supplies:
1. For our math program...
Real American coins (to be returned in June), please put in a plastic bag with child's name: 20 pennies, 5 nickels, 10 dimes, 4 quarters
2. Art Smock- an old T-shirt labeled with child's name- students without a smock will do projects in art without one
3. If desired- a water bottle (labeled with your child*s name) that doesn't leak- no chilled water please, the condensation ruins papers on the desks- WATER ONLY (juice, when spilled makes a huge, sticky mess).

We share all of the following community supplies. Please do NOT label supplies on this list with your child's name:
1. 2-24 count box of crayons
2. 5 gluesticks
3. 4 black dry erase markers- low odor please, wide tip
4. 10 plain yellow pencils- presharpened, if possible
5. 2 pink pearl erasers

The students will also need to wear sneakers on the first day of school, just in case they have physical education. Your child will need a backpack large enough to carry lunch (if needed), sneakers and their daily communication folder. We also have a small snack daily if your child wants to bring one in for him/herself. Thank you.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at jstalsonberg@cssd.org anytime. I look forward to meeting you and your child and having a wonderful year together! I will be in the building on Friday, August 27 from 1-3, to meet students and their parents. Feel free to bring your supplies then. Have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jennifer Stalsonberg
